Geography Department organised Year 12 Trip to Hengistbury Head, Dorset.
I look back on it all and realise how much I’ve experienced, how much I’ve seen and how much I’ve learnt. We all have come a long way, witnessed one another grow, and even seen ourselves grow. I am proud to say that I am not the same person I was two years ago. We changed for the better, whether it be through the independence gained or the support from teachers as well as peers. We have not only learnt but also had fun along the way. We made memories worth remembering and the laughs we’ve had are irreplaceable. Sure some moments made me doubt myself, but it was all worth it for the merriment that came alongside it and I would love to go back to experience it all again. But life moves on; new experiences await us. We will progress and continue on our path to success. However, I am glad that I went to GNSA, one of the best choices in my life. It is time to say goodbye, so thank you teachers for all you have done, helping shape our future and moulding us. Without you all, we would be nothing.

We are grateful to the members of our alumni who always take out time from their busy routine to come back and support their younger peers. This week we had Balsharon Atwal who is currently studying Accounting and Management at Queen Mary University, London. Balsharon spoke to our students about preparing for life after the sixth form. Her valuable insights are useful for Year 13s who are close to the end of their journey at GNSA Sixth Form.

We are proud of Dilmeet Kapoor and her team of Year 12s who organised a finance workshop for their peers to gain valuable experience in this field.
Year 12 took part in a virtual session where a trainer delivered a financial education programme. The session included bank account options, reading bank statements, minimum wage, payslips, tax, pensions, needs and wants, budgeting, credit and debt and the benefits of saving.
Financial traps like AER/ APR could increase loss/debt in paying back more than what you borrowed. The importance of setting up a bank account to suit your needs was explained; when setting up an account different banks provide different features. 2 examples were given where person A had 2 bank accounts because they didn't want their money in multiple places at once. However, person B had 5 different bank accounts all used for different needs. For example one of the accounts was used for travelling abroad, because it had specific features like free insurance and no charges/ fees incurred when making transactions in other countries, so this account was specifically used for travelling. But person A didn't travel as person B frequently did, so person A didn't need to make a separate account for this. So setting up an account depends on different needs and situations; how your money is stored depends on whether you will go to university and get student finance loans or get a job/ do an apprenticeship and earn while studying etc.
