Pirates

We had great fun learning about pirates and reading 'Captain Yellowbelly', aaarrrr! 

We identified that they were from the past and loved to look for treasure. 

We dressed up as them, making our own costumes, learnt how to speak as a pirate and even went on a treasure hunt. It was very exciting!

We also learnt about money this week, identifying different coins and why we need them. We had a go at buying items with coins in our class shop using the correct vocabulary.

Dinosaurs

One Monday we discovered we'd had a visitor and watched a video to see that a tyrannosaurus rex had come into Reception! We were very brave and spent the rest of the week learning all about dinosaurs.

We had a go at drawing and describing them using our super phonics skills and sequencing a dinosaur's life cycle.

We learnt that dinosaurs are from the past and that we know about them through fossils. We also learnt that a palaeontologist is the person who finds fossils and that they can be fossils of bones, footprints and even dinosaur poo!

Finally we had a go at measuring different dinosaurs and dinosaur footprints using cubes and rulers.

Healthy Eating

This week we learnt about how to stay healthy. We talked about what foods were healthy and unhealthy before sorting them. We also discussed why we need to stay healthy.

We also learnt about the dentist and how they help us. We role played going to a dentist and brought our toothbrushes to school so we could practice brushing our teeth!
