Year 5 SCS Railways workshop

On Thursday 11th November, Year 5 had the exciting opportunity to be part of a workshop hosted by SCS Railways.
With the construction of the HS2 (High Speed Railway) under way in the local area, students had the opportunity to learn all about engineering, tunneling and how the project is environmentally conscious. They got to take part in a variety of activities that helped to enhance their understanding of the project.
In addition, each class got to submit a name into a competition hosted by SCS. This competition is being held to name the Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM) that will be used to make the tunnels for the railway. As part of tradition, the machines are named after significant female figures and each of the classes submitted an entry, justifying why they had chosen their specific name. The winners have yet to be announced, but in the meantime, we are keeping our fingers crossed!
